I’ll be honest, the extent of my core/abs training (aside from bracing with my core when I’m performing any exercise) is adding an abs exercise here and there between sets of another exercise. I almost always pair exercises together because I like to keep myself moving throughout my workouts, so adding a few core exercises is a simple and efficient way to train another muscle group in the same time frame. Good Morning! It’s another Monday and that has me thinking about the week ahead, and all the things on my “To-Do” list. I’m a list person, I llllove a list 🤗 I feel productive when I can check things off as I go through my day. Whether it’s a big task or little, time consuming or not, I feel like I’m getting-shit-done!
For the last while I’ve been adding one thing to my list that’s a little unrelated to my typical To-Do list jobs which are usually things like: write programs, call this person or that person, reply to emails, groceries, pick this and that up for the boys, book dentist appointments..…that sort of thing. Happy Monday! I hope everyone had an eventful, or uneventful weekend (whatever is was you were hoping for). My weekend was spent up in Whistler with the family. It was our first get away to Whistler all winter so we were thrilled to be there. It’s such an incredible place, it’s beautiful, it’s relaxing and fun, there are great hotels, restaurants and spas, not to mention so much to do whether you ski or not.
We packed a lot into this weekend. We did a helicopter tour, which was such a fun experience for all of us (though, my 3 year old fell asleep about 15 minutes into the tour, haha!). The tour took us on a birds eye view of Whistler Blackcomb Resort and the surrounding area. After about 20 minutes of flying we landed on Rainbow Mountain, we got out and wandered around the mountain top and took in the incredible views. It was such a fun experience, I feel so lucky that we were able to do that!
Happy Monday! I love the start of a new week, for me it’s day 1 of my workouts, so I always try to get off to a strong start with a good training session. Well, I try to give my all for every workout, but sometimes coming off a more leisurely or unstructured weekend calls for a strong day 1 🙂
One of my favourite muscle groups to train is my shoulders – Love. It. (along with my butt which I mentioned the other day :). I like the look of nice shoulders so I try to give them a little extra attention so I can give them a little extra shape. This means I train them 2 times a week, sometimes on their own, and other times paired with other muscle groups.
The workout I have posted below is a workout really isolating the shoulders (or speaking more technically, your deltoids). I performed different shoulder exercises to target the muscles form different angles. I wanted to place stress and overload all parts of the shoulder – the front aspect of the shoulder (anterior deltoid), the middle (medial deltoid), and back of the shoulder (posterior deltoid). I’m just telling you the more technical terms in case you are interested, or if you come across someone at the gym who talks like a wise guy 🙂 Read more
